Senior citizen suspect in sodomy case

WINDHOEK, 08 MAY (NAMPA) – A 70-year-old man will appear in the Opuwo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly sodomising a nine-year-old boy.
The incident took place on Friday at the Ondore village in the Kunene Region, according to Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Inspector Slogan Matheus at the Sunday crime briefing.
The boy was looking after goats of his parents and the suspect when he complained of a headache and went to rest under a tree. The suspect found him there and allegedly sodomised him.
The man threatened to kill the minor if he tells anybody about the incident, but three days later the boy informed some of his siblings, who in return told the parents.
In another incident, the Ngoma Police are investigating the death of Godfrey Kalonda, 50, who died after allegedly drinking traditional beer at the Milunga village in the Bukalo area in the Zambezi Region. Kalonda drank the beer last Wednesday and started complaining of a stomach ache upon which he was taken to the Bukalo clinic where he died on Saturday. The next of kin were informed and police investigations continue.
In an unrelated incident, the police in the Omusati Region opened an inquest docket after Sebstianus Shiningayamwe was discovered dead in bed by family members on Friday.
