WALVIS BAY, 08 MAY (NAMPA) - The body of a 22-year-old Swakopmund resident who disappeared from a bar in Walvis Bay last month, was Saturday found floating in the ocean along Afrodite Beach on Saturday.
Police reports indicate that Lipula Erastus Kapofi was last seen in the company of his two brothers at Friendship Bar in the Tutaleni settlement at around 20h00 on 24 April.
He allegedly asked where the toilets were but never returned.
NamPol’s Crime Investigations’ Coordinator for Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa said a member of the public came across his dead body in the Atlantic Ocean and informed the police.
“His body was retrieved from the sea at about 14h39. We suspect he drowned,” Kashuupulwa told Nampa on Sunday.
A family member already identified Kapofi’s body.
Kapofi was a resident of Tulinawa in Swakopmund and was an employee of West Coast Joinery Suppliers at the town.
Police are investigating the death.
