Lize Ehlers and Christopher The Grand win big at NAMAs

WINDHOEK, 30 APR (NAMPA) - Lize Ehlers and Christopher The Grand were the big winners at the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) Industrial Awards held in the capital on Friday.
The awards were held at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN), with prizes in 14 categories handed out.
Christopher Grant, also known as ‘Christopher the Grand’, won the awards for Best Kizomba for his song ‘Maria Nela’ and Best Afrikaans for the song ‘Kuier’. He told Nampa he was overwhelmed at receiving two awards.
“I was nominated for one award last year but didn’t win and tonight I won two awards. I am so excited and grateful for the support I got from everyone who made this possible,” he said.
Ehlers won the awards for Best Live Performance of the Year and Most Socially Responsible Artist of the Year.
Other winnners were as follows:
Best Gospel - N.I.A ft. Ponti for ‘Heavenly Father’
Best Shambo – Laviyalava for ‘Makenyato’
Best Song with a Message - KP Illest for ‘No One's Laughing’
Radio Song of the Year – Gazza for ‘Oshimaliwa’
Best Single –VMSIX for ‘Nowhere’
Most Disciplined Artist of the Year - D-Naff
Radio DJ of The Year - Belinda Miss Bee Apollus
Best Producer - Araffath Muhuure
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to the Original Jazz Masters who play township-jazz. The group is made up of six - Joseph Petrus ‘Ou Gorab’ //Hoeseb; Stephanus ‘Kookwater’ //Hoebeb; Andreas Gustaf ‘Kuta’ Kavandje; Frederick Ndiripunye ‘Karietjie’ Kamburutue; Reinhardt ‘Toto’ Muinjo and Immanuel ‘Mannietjie’ Shivute.
The main awards ceremony will take place on Saturday at the Ramatex complex in Otjomuise, where another 19 awards will be handed out, including Male and Female Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.
