Otavi Investment Expo and Festival officially open

OTAVI, 29 APR (NAMPA) - The 2016 Otavi Investment Expo and Festival at Otavi Sports Field was Friday officially opened by Minister of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development, Immanuel Ngatjizeko.
“I congratulate the Otavi Town Council and its stakeholders for bringing this annual noble business idea to fruition,” said Ngatjizeko, noting that the event serves as a platform for the economic development of the town and attracts potential investors.
He said the fourth Otavi Investment Expo and Festival, this year attracted a total of 40 companies and Government ministries, as well as 60 small and medium entrepreneurs (Small and Medium Enterprises - SME), totalling 100 exhibitors, which is less than the 110 attracted in 2015.
The minister said about 200 temporary jobs have been created, mostly for the youth during this four-day business event.
On her part, Otavi Mayor Martha Shipanga said her town council will continue improving the living conditions of residents and creating platforms for business opportunities.
She encouraged the local SMEs to grasp the opportunities and strengthen their business confidence in order to grow their small businesses.
The 2016 Otavi Investment Expo and Festival kicked off slowly on Wednesday and will come to an end on Saturday.
Festival Patron and Executive Chairman of Hangala Group, Dr Leake Hangala, several local and regional councillors from the Otjozondjupa and Khomas regions amongst others also attended the event.
