Welwitschias lose to Sharks in Currie Cup

WINDHOEK, 24 APR (NAMPA) - The Windhoek Draught Welwitschias on Saturday lost their third game of the 2016 Currie Cup by 18 points to 48 against the Cell C Sharks XV in Durban, South Africa.
In their opening game of the Currie Cup on 09 April, they lost by 17 points to 32 against Toyota Free State XV in Bloemfontein, South Africa, and lost against the Golden Lions 66−12 in Windhoek a week ago.
On Saturday in Durban, the Welwitschias managed to score three tries in the game through Riaan van Zyl, Russell Steven van Wyk, and Rohan Kitshoff, and Shawn Kaizemi scored a penalty for the Namibians.
With three defeats in a row the Namibian team is bottom of the log (15th position) with zero points.
ORC Griquas are top of the log with 20 points from four games played thus far.
The Welwitschias next game will be at home against EP Kings on 30 April. EP Kings are 14th on the log, also with zero points from three games played thus far.
The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) registered a team made up of only local players for the 2016 edition of the Currie Cup tournament.
The tournament will be played from April to October, with the Welwitschias set to play seven games at home and seven in South Africa.
