GOBABIS, 23 APR (NAMPA) - The Office of the Governor in the Omaheke Region on Thursday handed over a variety of equipment valued at N.dollars 447 000 to 54 community projects in the region.
The governor’s office handed over the equipment, including computers, furniture and sewing machines, on behalf of the Namsov Community Trust, which donated the funds.
Omaheke Governor Festus Ueitele applauded the beneficiaries for their business initiatives and urged them to work hard.
“Your businesses should grow. Don’t wait on the government or the office of the governor to push you to do your work. We should fight hunger and poverty together,” he said.
Ueitele thanked Namsov for helping community projects to grow in efforts to meet Government halfway in terms of employment creation.
The beneficiaries thanked the office of the governor and the community trust for the assistance.
Natangwe Ueitele of Lazpak Multimedia Publishing, who also represented Omaheke Community Radio, said he is grateful for the donation.
Another beneficiary, Magrietta Basson said: “For now I don’t have any words to say, but I am very thankful”.
The total donation by Namsov to the office of the governor stood at N.dollars 500 000.
Another handover to beneficiaries is set to follow once the procurement of goods for them has been finalised.
The Namsov Community Trust holds a 10 per cent share in Namsov Fishing Enterprises, which started operating in 1991.
The trust is mandated to distribute donations to community projects in all 14 regions through the offices of regional governors.
