SPWC to hold national congress in December

WINDHOEK, 20 APR (NAMPA) - The Swapo-Party Women's Council (SPWC) will hold its national congress from 08 to 10 December in Keetmanshoop this year.
Addressing a media briefing in the capital on Wednesday, Deputy Secretary for Information and Mobilisation, Hilma Nicanor said at the council’s meeting held on 09 April 2016, it was agreed to establish a national congress preparatory committee to be headed by SPWC Secretary Petrina Haingura and regional committees to be headed by regional coordinators.
She added that sub-committees will also be established for the smooth running of the congress preparations and will concentrate on administration, logistics, finance, safety and security.
All 14 regions were directed to conduct a restructuring process and to hold regional conferences prior to the congress in accordance with the SPWC constitution.
Nicanor further said the meeting also agreed to have an extra-ordinary Central Committee meeting to review the progress of the congress preparations.
