Ondangwa-Oshivelo road claims more lives

ONGWEDIVA, 11 APR (NAMPA) – Two people died in a road crash near Ondangwa on Monday.
The accident occurred 30 kilometres outside Ondangwa on the road to Oshivelo in the Oshikoto Region at about 11h30.
Crime coordinator of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the region, Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua told Nampa on Monday it is alleged that the driver of a Toyota Fortuner, identified as Fillipus Nepando Nuunyango, lost control of the vehicle while overtaking and drove into a Toyota Corolla taxi.
The taxi was driven by 31-year-old Paulus Martin, who escaped the accident unharmed along with his four passengers.
“Both drivers were heading in the direction of Ondangwa,” Katjiua pointed out, adding that there were five passengers in the Fortuner.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the 63-year-old wife of the driver of the Fortuner, Rauna Nuunyango, died on the way to the Okatope Clinic while 42-year-old Ndahambela Nepando died while being taken to the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital.
“Their next of kin have been informed,” Katjiua indicated.
Maria Tulipamwe, 41; Secilia Mateus, 36; and the four-year-old Shali Elifas were also passengers in the Fortuner.
They were admitted to the Onandjokwe Hospital for medical attention.
Their driver (Nuunyango) survived the accident unharmed.
