WINDHOEK, 05 APR (NAMPA) – Black Africa Football Club (FC) coach Woody Jacobs has registered his disappointment at not making use of available opportunities to narrow the points gap with current log leaders Tigers FC.
Black Africa trail Tigers by 12 points.
The lost opportunities he was referring to was when his team lost some games during the period Tigers drew six games. This would have narrowed the gap between the two teams and gave Black Africa a better chance of winning the league.
Black Africa can only take over the lead if it win all its remaining six matches and hope Tigers lose or draw its four remaining games.
Speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, Jacobs said this is their last opportunity to close the gap on the log, although they are not under any pressure to deliver at the weekend.
“As a coach, I can say we are going to win all our weekend games but all this depends on the players when they step onto the field because they are the architects of what will happen on the field.
“I think at the moment, the pressure is more on Tigers because they dropped the most crucial points that would have made them champions after the weekend games, but it’s now time for us to stand up and show what we can do over the weekend,” he said.
Jacobs added that the league title is for Tigers to lose, but he is happy that his current squad can do better next season as well.
“This weekend we have two tough fixtures against Civics and Orlando Pirates. I believe in my squad because there are a number of young players who are ready to compete and going into this weekend’s fixtures, the squad is well prepared and under no stress.
“All we have to do now is win all our remaining games and if it was meant for us to win the league title, we will definitely win it because football has a funny way of sorting itself out.”
This weekend’s rounds 25 and 26 fixtures are:
