URGENT: Sona underway

WINDHOEK, 05 APR (NAMPA) - The State of the Nation Address (Sona) by President Hage Geingob is underway in Parliament.
Geingob is expected to give an account of the progress made by Government since his last Sona on 21 April 2015, as well as outline and launch the Harambee Prosperity Plan.
The head of state is addressing 132 members of the National Assembly and National Council.
He said in his opening remarks, Namibia at independence and Namibia today are miles apart.
“Namibia is in good shape; the state of the nation is sound.”
Former Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba, current First Lady Monica Geingos, former members of parliament and members of the public are in attendance.
