KALKFELD, 01 APR (NAMPA) - Ten community projects at Kalkfeld have benefited from the Otjozondjupa Regional Councils micro-financing community development fund since last year.
The chairperson of the Otjozondjupa Regional Council, Julius Neumbo on Thursday also donated a variety of project materials aimed at helping various operational community projects at the settlement.
Kalkfeld falls under the Otjiwarongo Constituency, and is situated approximately 70 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region.
In his official remarks Neumbo, who is also the Otjiwarongo Constituency Councillor, said the Otjozondjupa Regional Council has resolved to support viable community projects in all seven of the regions constituencies with materials on an annual basis.
All community members with functional projects in our region qualify. All you need to do is to apply through your constituency offices, he said.
Neumbo said approximately N.dollars 400 000 has been spent on purchasing materials for the Kalkfeld projects. The applications submitted to his office were approved by the Otjozondjupa Regional Council, which purchased these materials.
The community projects amongst others do sewing, gardening, photography, welding and carpentry.
The materials handed over included planks, hammers, saws, drills and cupboards.
Neumbo urged the beneficiaries to use the materials for their intended purposes only.
Generate income for yourself and then create jobs for others so that we can turn Kalkfeld into a real business hub, he said.
Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, the founder of Rise and Shine Wood Community project, Efraim Muningirua said all the donated materials will be taken care of.
Kalkfeld in 1991 was proclaimed a village council, but it was downgraded to a settlement in 1996 due to a lack of development activities.
