Three children drown over Easter long weekend

WINDHOEK, 28 MAR (NAMPA) – Three children drowned in ponds in the Omusati Region over the Easter long weekend.
In the first incident, Ndeyamune Johannes Ishindula, 11, drowned in a pond on Thursday in the Okahao Constituency.
Speaking at the crime briefing here on Monday, Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s spokesperson, Inspector Slogan Matheus said the boy went missing at about 10h00 on Thursday. His body was only discovered in the pond on Friday at 16h00.
The incident took place at the Uukwandongo village in that constituency.
His next of kin have been informed.
In a separate incident, a toddler aged one year and four months old drowned in a pond where she had been playing with other children on Friday at the Okashegele village in the Etayi Constituency.
The toddler allegedly went missing between 15h00 and 17h30.
She was identified as Tunomwene Gabriel.
Her next of kin have been informed.
The third case of drowning was reported after a three-year-old girl drowned in a pond on Saturday at about 18h00 at the Oshipumbu village in the Outapi Constituency.
According to Matheus, the deceased, identified as Twindileni Mwalyikombo, was last seen on the same day at about 11h00.
Her next of kin have been informed.
