Oshana wins Newspaper Cup again

RUNDU, 28 MAR (NAMPA) – The Oshana Region won the 2016 The Namibian Newspaper Cup after handing Khomas a 2-0 defeat in the final here on Monday.
The final of the 16th edition of the newspaper cup took place at the Rundu Sport Stadium in the Kavango East Region.
Oshana scored one goal in each of the two halves through Andreas Keendjele and Immanuel Kambonde.
The region also won the Cup in 2007, while Khomas won it four times since its inception in 2001.
The Oshana under-20 players received a floating trophy, gold medals, N.dollars 35 000 and a wooden trophy donated by the Kavango East Regional Council.
Khomas took home silver medals and N.dollars 20 000.
The third prize of bronze medals and N.dollars 10 000 went to the boys from the host region, Kavango East, after they defeated their counterparts from Omaheke 1-0 in the third place play-off.
Omaheke walked away with N.dollars 5 000, while Ohangwena received the Fair Play Award.
Israel Shikongo from Oshana was crowned Man of the Match in the final, semi-final and quarter-final matches in which he played, as well as Player of the Series.
Other prizes went to Khomas Region’s Rowen Engelbrecht as Top Goal Scorer (three goals), and Willem Haitembu (Omusati) as Official of the Series.
