The MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy will host a road to world title boxing event on October 5th in the capital that will see the country’s top boxers take on visiting opponents.
World Boxing Organisation (WBO) international lightweight champion, Paulus ‘Hitman’ Moses, will take on Leonard Esteban Gonzalez of Argentina. WBO Africa walterweight champion, Betuel ‘Tyson’ Uushona, faces Kaizer Mabuza of South Africa while WBO cruiserweight champion, Vikapita ‘Beastmaster’ Meroro, heads with Pascal Ndomba of Tanzania.
This event will also see some undercards fight, including Peter Malakia who is expected to battle it out with an opponent whose name is yet to be confirmed.
Martin Haikali awaits Nkosinathi Ntshangase while former commonwealth winning medallist, Japhet Utoni, is yet to get an opponent.
Another boxer to make his second debut is Mike Shonena who will fight a debutant called Kapena Hamunyela. Finally, Abraham Ndaendapo will try to continue with his winning streak with an opponent also yet to be confirmed.
According to boxing promoter, Nestor Tobias, the venue for the fights is yet to be decided with the tickets expected to cost N$100 and N$500 for VIP.
Meroro is confident of finishing off his opponent as early as the second round. Meanwhile, Uushona says he will improve on his technical ability, which saw him struggle over the past weekend against Kenya's James Onyango Omogo in Oshikango.
“I did not want to make a mistake. So I was cautious about a cut as it was just a preparation for this fight but at the end, all that mattered was a win. I am going to knock him out come October 5th,” says Uushona.
