WINDHOEK, 19 MAR (NAMPA)- A young resident of Okahandja arrested in October 2010 after he allegedly violently attacked and sexually assaulted three schoolgirls at the town, goes on trial in the High Court here in September this year (2016).
Rudolf Goagoseb, now 24, made another appearance during a pre-trial conference of case management review before High Court Judge Christie Liebenberg on Thursday and was informed the trial of his alleged rape case will start at the beginning of September this year.
He allegedly sexually assaulted three minor girls when he was 18 years old.
The trial is set down to kick-off on 05 September 2016 and will run until the end of that month.
Trial date was on Thursday morning concluded in court as per agreement reached between State Advocate Palmer Khumalo and Goagoseb's government-funded defence lawyer, Kadhila Amoomo.
Goagoseb faces five counts of rape, two counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and attempted murder.
He had allegedly raped two of the minor girls twice, as indicated in the charge sheet.
A summary of substantial facts contained in the charge sheet has it that accused Goagoseb was arrested by the members of the Namibian Police's Serious Crime Investigations Unit at the beginning of October 2010 shortly after he allegedly violently attacked and sexually molested three minor schoolgirls, aged between 12 and 14.
It is alleged that Goagoseb had attacked and raped three minor schoolgirls when the victims were walking through a bushy area near the Okahandja's Nau-Aib residential area.
Goagoseb, allegedly armed with a broken bottle, had threatened the three little schoolgirls and tied up their hands before forcing them to perform sexual acts on him.
He had allegedly violently raped the 12-year-old schoolgirl, who was found naked and bleeding as a result of the senseless attacks on her.
This minor girl had to receive medical treatment at the Okahandja State Hospital due to injuries she had sustained.
It is further reported accused Goagoseb was free on bail on a charge of rape when he violently attacked and sexually molested the three minor schoolgirls.
Goagoseb remains in police custody at the Windhoek Correctional Facility until the start of his trial on September 2016.
