Dinyando to be laid to rest on Saturday

WINDHOEK, 10 SEP (NAMPA) – Namibia’s late Ambassador to Austria, Raphael Dinyando will be laid to rest at his home village of Divundu in the Kavango East Region on Saturday.
Dinyando, who died in Vienna, Austria last week at age 53, served in that country since 2010.
The arrangements for his burial were announced by Foreign Affairs Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in the National Assembly, which started here on Tuesday.
“Government has made arrangements by sending a plane to collect his remains. On Tuesday evening there will be a memorial service held in Vienna whereby the president designated the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President to represent him,” she said.
The plane carrying the remains of the late Dinyando is expected to leave Vienna on Wednesday and arrive in Windhoek on Thursday.
On arrival a memorial service will be held at the St Mary’s Cathedral in the capital. Nandi-Ndaitwah said the time for the memorial service will be announced through the media.
A second memorial service will be held at Rundu on Friday, followed by Dinyando’s burial at his home village on Saturday.
Dinyando was the founding Mayor of Rundu in 1992, and he was appointed Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology in 2005.
He is survived by his wife and four children.
He was born on 02 August 1960.
