WINDHOEK, 14 MAR (NAMPA) - The outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Xin Shunkang on Monday paid his farewell courtesy call on President Hage Geingob at State House.
Geingob described Xin as a hardworking and active ambassador, whose contributions towards cementing good relations between Namibia and China stand out.
“This is a very historic day in which we are saying goodbye to one of the most active and most committed ambassadors to our friendship,” the president said.
Geingob challenged many international communities to follow the good relations and cooperation existing between Namibia and China, citing the Otjomuise Secondary School in the capital that was built and donated by the Chinese Government as an example.
In response, Xin thanked the Head of State for commending the contributions he made during his term of office in Namibia, which was three years and eight months.
His wish is that more Chinese business delegations and private Chinese tourists visit Namibia.
The ambassador is scheduled to leave for China on Tuesday, and is set to retire as he had reached the retirement age of 60.
