ONDANGWA, 09 MAR (NAPA) – Hosting the annual Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Exhibition (OTIE) is one of the efforts of the Ondangwa Town Council to address socio-economic development at the town.
The council’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ismael Namgongo said this during a media briefing held at the town on Tuesday.
Namgongo used the same event to announce that the 2016 OTIE is scheduled to take place from 29 April to 07 May, while its official launch will be during a special gala set for 16 April.
“During the past six years, the OTIE has grown from strength to strength and has attracted a massive number of exhibitors and spectators,” the new CEO of Ondangwa said.
This year, Namgongo said, the Ondangwa Town Council expects the number of OTIE participants to rise substantially because of improved infrastructure of the show centre.
“The structure of the OTIE centre was constructed at a cost of N.dollars 14 million and is due for completion by the end of this month,” he added.
Namgongo believes the OTIE is not a town council event but an event which everybody in Ondangwa should feel proud of and contribute to its success.
He described the OTIE as an exhibition, putting special emphasis on the promotion of the uniqueness of the area and as a platform to sell the town to potential investors as an excellent industrial, agriculture and tourism development destination.
“We are inviting the public members to come and join us during this colourful event and support the council’s effort,” Namgongo concluded.
