Pensioner dies in car crash outside Okakarara

OTJIWARONGO, 07 MAR (NAMPA) - A 62-year-old man died instantly on Sunday afternoon after he lost control over a vehicle he was driving, causing it roll several times some 25 kilometres west of Okakarara.
The accident occurred at approximately 15h00 on Sunday afternoon on the road between Okakarara and Otjiwarongo.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha confirmed the incident to Nampa in an interview on Monday morning.
Mbeha said the pensioner has been identified as George Kasuto. His close relatives have been informed of the death.
Kasuto died on the spot.
“There were five occupants in the Toyota 2.7, including the driver,” she said.
Four adult passengers sustained light to serious injuries.
Mbeha noted that all injured persons were taken to the Okakarara State Hospital on the same day.
A case of culpable homicide under CR 06/03/2016 was opened at the Okakarara Police Station the same Sunday afternoon.
Police investigations continue.
