WALVIS BAY, 09 SEP (NAMPA) – A 28-year-old traditional healer who stands accused of allegedly raping one of his clients, made his first appearance in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The alleged rapist, Solomon Kandjara, appeared before Magistrate Andre Matulich.
The State opposed bail, and remanded the matter to 18 September 2013 for further police investigations and for the accused to apply for legal aid.
According to Namibian Police Force (NamPol) reports, the client allegedly reported the matter to the police in May this year.
However, Kandjara was only found last week and arrested in connection with the rape.
It is alleged that the suspect provided the victim with a herbal drink during their session which made her drowsy, allowing the healer to rape her.
Kandjara remains in police custody until the matter returns to court.
