WINDHOEK, 24 FEB (NAMPA) – Government has extended the ongoing public consultations on the New Equitable Economic Empowerment Framework (NEEEF) Bill to 29 April 2016.
A joint media statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and the Land Reform and Development Commission (LRDC) on Wednesday said the OPM has now posted both the NEEEF and the National Equitable Economic Empowerment Draft Bill, 2016 on its website.
The two institutions - OPM and LRDC - have also made a joint public presentation on the Bill at a workshop on 11 February 2016 to discuss pertinent issues relating to the Bill.
The media statement further explained that through the OPM website, the public is also being invited to submit queries, comments and inputs on the Bill in written form before 29 April 2016.
These platforms will allow everyone a fair opportunity to react to the Bill.
All official correspondences in respect of the Bill should be addressed to Nangula Mbako, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister.
The NEEEF Bill is designed to restructure the private business sector through empowerment pillars that are aimed at addressing a variety of needs of previously disadvantaged people.
The framework is designed to supersede all other transformation and empowerment policies in the country.
The NEEEF Bill is one of the 40 Bills expected to be discussed in the National Assembly during the course of this year.
