Rukoro back as SG of NFA

WINDHOEK, 21 FEB (NAMPA) – The suspension of Namibia Football Association (NFA) Secretary-General Barry Rukoro 0has been lifted by the NFA Executive Committee.
The decision was taken during an NFA executive committee meeting held in the capital on Saturday.
NFA president Frans Mbidi suspended Rukoro on 10 February, citing gross insubordination.
A media statement issued on the same day as Rukoro’s suspension said it would be in place until the disciplinary process was completed.
“The suspension will allow investigation and disciplinary processes to continue unhindered,” Mbidi was quoted as saying in the statement.
A statement availed to Nampa on Saturday said the executive committee deliberated on the suspension of the SG and decided to lift the suspension with immediate effect.
“The NFA will follow the internal disciplinary procedures to determine the magnitude of Rukoro‘s alleged transgression, as stated by the president, to pave the way forward,” the statement said.
It was also confirmed that the 2016 Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup Senior Challenge was postponed to June from its usual date of May.
“On the 2016 COSAFA Senior Challenge to be hosted by Namibia, the executive committee confirms that the tournament is postponed to June from May 2016 in Windhoek. The reason for the postponement is to allow regional leagues to conclude and allow players to participate in the coveted tournament.
“The NFA has appointed a Local Organising Committee (LOC) and it will soon meet with the COSAFA organising committee to put measures in place for the successful hosting of the event,” it said.
The statement also added that the Namibia Premier League statutory documents (constitution, rules and regulations and the disciplinary code) were approved with amendments.
The executive in addition reiterated that they are working hard to find a suitable sponsor for the country’s football flagship competition, the NFA Cup and will make an announcement if and when they secure a sponsor.
