WINDHOEK, 11 FEB (NAMPA) – Rundu-based Julinho Sporting Football Club (FC) promised to continue their winning way when they face African Stars FC in the Namibia Premier League (NPL) Round 20 on Saturday in the capital.
Julinho beat Eleven Arrows 1-0 and Blue Waters by the same scoreline on 30 and 31 January.
Stars won 2-1 in the first match against Julinho on 01 November last year.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Soccer House on Wednesday, Julinho Sporting FC Commercial Director Daniel Tjongarero said despite five injuries in his team, they are confident and look forward to a spectacular clash.
“We performed very well in our last games, and this will serve as confidence boost for our team. We are ready for this weekend,” he said.
Asked about his team's low ranking in the league and chances of surviving relegation from the NPL, Tjongarero said the team will continue with the same momentum of their last games and promised that they will come out of the relegation zone.
Stars coach Bobby Samaria said his team is free from injuries and despite their recent goal drought, the players are in high spirits and ready for Saturday’s clash.
African Stars, who are the defending champions, drew 0-0 against Orlando Pirates and played to the same score against Civics on 30 and 31 January 2016.
“Our aim is to collect maximum points while at home. The spirit in the camp is high and we are not taking Julinho lightly,” he said
The match will be televised live by the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) at 16h00.
On Sunday, Julinho will play against Tigers and African Stars on Sunday against United Stars.
Julinho are second-last on the NPL log with 17 points, while Stars are fourth on the log with 29 points.
Tigers are log leaders with 45 points, followed by Black Africa with 40 points and Orlando Pirates third with 33 points.
