WINDHOEK, 10 FEB (NAMPA) – The Namibia Football Association (NFA) Secretary-General (SG), Barry Rukoro has been suspended because of gross insubordination.
His suspension, effective as from Wednesday, was confirmed by NFA President Frans Mbidi on Wednesday.
A media statement from the NFA on Wednesday said Rukoro’s suspension will run until the disciplinary process is completed.
“The suspension will allow investigation and disciplinary processes to continue unhindered,” Mbidi was quoted as saying in the statement.
He added that all stakeholders including the Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, were informed of the decision.
The statement said formal charges will be brought against Rukoro in due course, adding that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent panel.
NFA’s Head of Competitions Titus Kunamuene, has been appointed as acting SG.
He will act in the position as recommended by the NFA Emergency Committee until a full sitting of the executive committee on 20 February 2016 confirms or revokes the acting appointment.
Rukoro became SG in November 2006 after the football association fired former SG Alpheus Gaweseb.
