Otjozondjupa regional education conference underway

OTJIWARONGO, 03 FEB (NAMPA) - A one-day education stakeholders’ conference for the Otjozondjupa Region is underway here on Wednesday.
Otjozondjupa Regional Education Director, Simon Tsuseb, in his official opening remarks, said the conference is aimed at analysing and reviewing the region’s performance during the 2015 academic year for junior secondary and senior secondary levels.
Participants are expected to formulate achievable resolutions that will be implemented to boost the teaching and learning in classrooms at various schools.
He wants to see the region perform and climb the ladder to the top in both Grade 10 and Grade 12 results at the end of 2016.
The director said he was happy to see his region accorded the status of the most improved region in the country in both Grade 10 and Grade 12 national examinations last year. The region was ranked 10th in Grade 10 out of 14 regions, and fourth in Grade 12.
In 2014 the region was at the bottom in Grade 10, holding 13th position, and fifth in Grade 12.
In 2013 Otjozondjupa was nationally placed 13th in Grade 10, and third in Grade 12.
The Otjiwarongo Senior Secondary School principal, Rina Goldberg who has maintained the best performing government school in the entire region for the past five years, was applauded for the achievement at the conference.
The conference is attended by school principals, teachers, parents, school board members and representatives from the Ministry of Education Head Office.
