WINDHOEK, 03 FEB (NAMPA) - The Central Volleyball Association (CVA) under the auspices of the Namibian Volleyball Federation (NVF) is calling on all volleyball teams to register for the 2016 volleyball season.
Teams that are required to register are those that reside in the Khomas Region or the town of Rehoboth in the Hardap Region.
Registration has already started, but will end on 29 February 2016. New clubs are also invited to register.
The Sports Klub Windhoek (SKW) womens volleyball team and the Khomas Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Volleyball Club (KNVC) mens team won the CVA league in 2015.
The CVA also runs a corporate volleyball league where private and government institutions that are not ready to compete in the main CVA league, can register.
Speaking to Nampa on Wednesday, the chairperson of the CVA and a player for KNVC, Joseph Amakali said this year the league plans on improving the standard of refereeing and change the number of rounds that are played in the league.
Last year the womens league played three rounds while in the mens league we only played two rounds. We are now going to change that so the male and women league can both play two rounds.
All in all the league last year ran smoothly so we dont have anything to change but we are looking forward to the new year and the challenges we will be facing for the season, said Amakali.
In 2015, the CVA had six teams registered in the womens league, while the male league had nine teams on their books.
Amakali also added that the CVA would hold its annual general meeting on 05 March 2016 at the Namibian Volleyball Federations Office at Katutura Multipurpose Youth Centre.
