Eight drown victims identified

OPUWO, 02 FEB (NAMPA) – The police in Opuwo are appealing to members of the public to help identify a man who was found dead in a river at the Okatutura settlement here on Monday morning.
Kunene regional police commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu said it is suspected that the deceased may have drowned somewhere else and that the flow of the river brought him to Opuwo.
The deceased had on dark blue jeans, black boots, a white T-shirt written ‘10 December Human Rights Day’.
Meanwhile, the eight people who died in a vehicle that was washed away by a river in the Epupa Constituency on Saturday, have been identified.
They are Frans Manjara Thom who was the driver; Mautuesapi Mbinge; Uapingenga Thom; Karumauni Tjindunda; Julith Mweliimbange Hamukwaya; Kamuvazere Muhenje; Vision Muhenje; and Tjireja Efraim, a five-month-old baby.
The people were travelling from Opuwo to Okanguati in a Toyota double-cab pick-up with registration number N 871 OP.
The driver drove through a strong river which caused the accident.
Six people who were in the same car survived.
