Ongenga dominates Ohangwena Regional Cultural Festival

EENHANA, 04 SEP (NAMPA) - Cultural groups from the Ongenga Constituency dominated the Ohangwena Annual Regional Cultural Festival which took place at the Ongha Senior Secondary School on Friday and Saturday.
The Ongenga Constituency’s groups scooped first prizes in four of the five categories at the festival, as well as a second prize.
Maria Ingatutala (lower category), Meekulu Kakola (upper category), Eengedjo Senior Secondary School (junior category) and Hedimbi (adult category) are the Ongenga Constituency’s cultural groups which took home first prizes, while Eengedjo Senior Secondary School also won the second prize in the senior secondary school/out of school youth category.
The only cultural group not from the Ongenga Constituency which managed to win first prize was Oipotongo yaNamene from the Ohangwena Constituency.
Culture officials of the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture in the Ohangwena Region told Nampa on Tuesday the winning cultural groups qualified to participate in the national cultural festival due to take place during the first week of December at a yet undecided venue.
The Ohangwena Region is said to have more than 300 active cultural groups and only 59 of them qualified for the Annual Regional Cultural Festival held at Ongha Senior Secondary School on Friday and Saturday.
