South African National Charged For Illegal Entry

KEETMANSHOOP, 20 MAY (NAMPA) - A 58-year-old South African citizen was arrested by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Rosh Pinah for bringing a gun in the country without a permit.
He was arrested on Sunday at Farm Witputs Number 31, where he was found hunting with the riffle and 50 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was charged for smuggling of a firearm, and another charge of illegal entry.
A police incident report from the NamPol commander in the Karas Region, Commissioner Armas Shivute said the suspect crossed the Orange River into Namibia on Saturday.
Police said a member of the public notified the police about a man who crossed the river from South Africa.
He was detained by police, waiting to appear in the Karasburg District Court on Monday.
