WINDHOEK, 29 JAN (NAMPA) – At least two people were injured in an accident involving six vehicles on the Swakopmund-Arandis road on Friday afternoon.
One person is in a critical condition and the other is stable.
A source at the accident scene said the accident occurred at about 14h26 some 20 kilometres to Arandis near the Rossing Mountains.
The six vehicles include a government pick-up; three trucks; a Volkswagen minibus and a sedan. They were all traveling in an easterly direction from Swakopmund.
According to the source, one of the trucks crashed into five other vehicles in front of it after the vehicles had slowed down to allow two trucks to turn off the road, causing a chain collision.
Two of the trucks transported fish and glass bottles, respectively.
The road was closed for traffic because it was strewn with broken glass and fish.
Paramedics from six ambulances were at the scene to assist the injured people.
