Cannabis worth N.dollars 7 700 confiscated in //Karas

WINDHOEK, 01 SEP (NAMPA) - Four suspects were arrested in the //Karas Region on Friday after being found in possession of cannabis valued at N.dollars 7 770 at their residence.
Speaking during the weekly crime briefing in the capital on Sunday, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said the suspects, who are from the Niemandsland residential area in Bethanie, were found in possession of 2 590 kilogrammes of cannabis.
They are expected to appear in the Bethanie Magistrates Court on Monday, and police investigations continue.
In the Omusati Region, the police are investigating two cases of suicide.
At Onguluviya village in Tsandi, the 25-year-old Ndeshipanda Joshua Michael allegedly hanged himself in his room on Friday at around 09h00. He did not leave a suicide note behind, but no foul play is suspected. His next of kin have been informed.
Titus Tobias, 21, reportedly also hanged himself.
Shikwambi said his body was found hanging from a tree in a mahangu field at Oiheke Onaame village at Outapi on Sunday at around 06h00. He also did not leave a suicide note behind, and no foul play is suspected. His next of kin have been informed.
The police in the Oshikoto Region are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the 39-year-old Maria Kamati was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road. She died instantly.
According to Shikwambi, the incident occurred on Saturday at around 19h15 on the Ondangwa-Oshivelo road.
Kamatis next of kin have been informed.
