NBC to screen NPL matches starting Saturday

20 Jan 2016 17:20pm
WINDHOEK, 20 JAN (NAMPA) – The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) will broadcast its first live match of the 2015/16 Namibia Premier League (NPL) season when the league resumes on Saturday.
The second leg of the NPL will kick off Saturday in the different towns across the country after a one month break for the 2015 festive season.
The live match will feature Black Africa Football Club (FC), who are currently second on the log with 34 points, and Citizens, 11th on the log with 17 points.
Kick off will be 16h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) and NBC signed a barter agreement in November 2015, which enables the two corporations to broadcast NPL games live.
The agreement will be effective until the end of the 2015/16 NPL season, which is expected to end in May.
Speaking at a media briefing in the capital on Wednesday, MTC Manager for Sponsorship and Promotions Joseph Mundjindi expressed happiness about this development, saying that fans of various NPL clubs can now watch their local heroes on national television.
“We are going to start enticing Namibian fans to follow their local football stars on their (television) screens. Just as agreed all the matches that will be screened during the second leg of the 2015/16 season will be televised on NBC One; we are taking football to the masses in the country,” he said.
All live broadcasts of selected matches will take place on Saturdays only.
