CoW to enter into agreement with Nkurenkuru Town Council

WINDHOEK, 30 AUG (NAMPA) – The City of Windhoek will soon enter into a co-operation agreement with the Nkurenkuru Town Council for assistance in urban town planning.
The signing ceremony is scheduled to take place on 20 September at the Nkurenkuru Town Council premises, an official document availed to Nampa during the monthly City Council meeting here said on Thursday.
The proposed areas of co-operation include capacity-building in human resources’ development; technical services such as building control and a fire brigade; environmental health (waste management); and land management.
Windhoek management committee members, Windhoek City Councillors, Chief Executive Officer Niilo Taapopi and other officials will accompany Windhoek ayor Agnes Kafula for the signing ceremony.
Nkurenkuru was declared a settlement area in 1999.
It was later proclaimed as a town in 2006, and the first-ever Town Council members were officially sworn-in on 27 March 2007.
The town is situated approximately 145 kilometres west of Rundu in the Kavango Region.
