Bank Windhoek appoints new MD

WINDHOEK, 14 JAN (NAMPA) - Bank Windhoek has appointed 2015 Businesswoman of the Year,Baronice Hans, as Managing Director (MD) Designate, affective 1 February 2016.
In a media statement issued Wednesday, Bank Windhoek Holdings Chairman of the Board, Koos Brandt, said he is confident that Hans will add tremendous value and that she will build on the success of the bank achieved under the leadership of current MD, Christo de Vries who was appointed in June 2011.
“We are pleased to have been able to attract a seasoned and respected Namibian banker like Baronice to lead our bank into the future,” said Brandt, noting Hans’ wealthy experience and extensive career in banking.
A chartered accountant by profession, Hans has a Honours Degree in Accounting Science, worked for Standard Bank Namibia for six years and was an Executive Director and Head of Personal and Business Banking for four years at the same bank.
“Christo de Vries will continue to add value to the group and lead the bank for the reminder of the 2015/2016 financial year as Managing Director,” he said.
He explained that, Hans will take over from 01 February 2016 and she will closely work with out going MD, Christo de Vries for the remainder of the year so that they work together in order to achieve the 2015/2016 objectives and targets set for the bank.
Hans has served a number of boards in diverse disciplines such as Telecommunications; Power Distribution; Non-Banking Financial Regulation; Life Assurance; Asset Management and Fishing and Marine Resources.
