Opuwo man commits suicide after allegedly bashing woman

OPUWO, 12 JAN (NAMPA) - A young man committed suicide here on Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted a woman.
Tjilikomwenjo Jackson Tjilondelo was found hanging dead in his room at the Ouranda settlement in Opuwo at about 10h00.
According to a police report availed to Nampa on Tuesday, the deceased physically assaulted a 25-year-old woman.
A source within the police who is not authorised to speak to the media told Nampa upon hearing that the police were looking for him Tjilondelo, thinking that the woman is dead, decided to take his own life.
His next of kin have been informed of his death.
The woman, who is a Grade 12 learner in Khorixas, is receiving counselling at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare.
In a separate incident, a 13-year-old child drowned in a lake last Wednesday in the Okanguati area. Puani Hunga was swimming with other children when he drowned.
In another incident, Uetjinanavi Kaee, 16, also drowned in a lake at Okakwara, a village west of Opuwo. Circumstances surrounding the drowning is not yet known.
