WINDHOEK, 08 JAN (NAMPA) - City Police officers on Thursday arrested five men who were found in possession of implements used to break into houses, and an unlicensed pistol.
City Police Superintendent, Eliaser Iiyambo told Nampa the suspects were spotted driving around Hochland Park in a car without licence plates.
He said a member of the public alerted the City Police after noticing the suspicious vehicle, a silver Volkswagen Polo, driving up and down Riethaan and Stonechat streets.
“We stopped the vehicle and upon searching it, we found them in possession of implements used in housebreaking and an unlicensed pistol, and we arrested them,” Iiyambo said.
He added that a number of burglaries have been reported in the vicinity over the past few months.
“We suspect that these were the guys terrorising the area,” Iiyambo said.
The suspects were taken to the Windhoek Central Police Station holding cells and their vehicle was impounded.
