SWAKOPMUND, 06 JAN (NAMPA) - The body of a 21-year-old Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) student who drowned at Swakopmund on New Year’s Day was on Tuesday retrieved by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol).
David John Majiedt Klazen’s body was spotted by a passerby at the same spot at Long Beach where he reportedly drowned four days ago.
NamPol Crime Investigations’ Coordinator in Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa confirmed the retrieval to Nampa on Tuesday.
“At about 10h30, a member of the public alerted the NamPol Water Policing Unit members about the discovery. The police who were in the vicinity searching responded immediately and retrieved the body”.
On Friday, the deceased and his friends decided to go for a swim after spending the night by the sea.
The current was however too strong, and the young man drowned.
Klazen was a resident of Mondesa in Swakopmund.
He studied Telecommunication Engineering at NUST, formerly known as the Polytechnic of Namibia.
