Woman and girl raped on New Year's Day

WINDHOEK, 04 JAN (NAMPA) – A woman and girl were raped in the Omaheke and Kavango East regions respectively on New Year's Day.
A 14-year-old girl was raped at Mushashani village at Divundu, Kavango East, after a 23-year-old South African national allegedly lured her into the bushes surrounding that area.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi told a media briefing on Sunday the suspect allegedly undressed the minor and raped her.
The suspect was arrested and police investigations continue.
A 20-year-old woman was raped at Aminuis in the Omaheke Region.
Shikwambi said the suspect, 25, allegedly threatened the victim and dragged her into a house where he had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The incident occurred on Friday around midnight.
Shikwambi did not say whom the house belongs to.
The suspect has been arrested and police investigations continue.
Both suspects are expected to appear in court this week.
