Man hangs himself after quarrelling with his girlfriend

OTJIWARONGO, 27 DEC (NAMPA) – A 27-year-old man was found hanging from a tree with a wire around his neck on Saturday evening at Farm Homestead outside Otjiwarongo, allegedly after a quarrel with his girlfriend that same evening.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Chief Inspector, Fillemon Haikali said the man has been identified as Johannes Boetie //Aib.
“His close relatives have been already informed of his death,” he said.
Haikali said //Aib and his girlfriend had allegedly first quarreled on Christmas Day (Friday) when they were at Outjo.
They then allegedly resolved their differences there and travelled back together that same day to Homestead Government Resettlement Farm situated some 30 kilometres (km) north of Otjiwarongo.
Haikali said //Aib and the woman lived together on the farm.
The police officer said //Aib had recently lost his job at a farm situated adjacent Homestead Government Resettlement Farm where he used to work.
He said that on Saturday evening, the two again started quarrelling inside their house, and //Aib was seen exiting the house as if he was going to visit neighbours.
Haikali said at 21H00 that same Saturday evening //Aib was found hanging from a tree dead with a wire around his neck.
It is still not known what the two were quarrelling about, he said.
He however said no foul play is suspected in the suicide, adding that an inquest docket has been already opened at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
