KATIMA MULILO, 15 DEC (NAMPA) – A 14-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday by hanging herself with bed linen attached to her mother’s bedroom ceiling at the Dairy informal settlement of this town.
The lifeless body of Masendo Muhweta, a Grade 8 learner at the Mavuluma Secondary School in Katima Mulilo, was discovered hanging dead by her younger sister.
Namibian Police crime investigations officials told Nampa at the scene that the younger sister alerted the neighbours who then called the police.
According to a NamPol official, the call to the police was made at 11h00.
Muhweta’s mother, a guard with the Katima Mulilo Security, was called to the house to identify her daughter, but could not as she was too distraught to do so.
It is not known what led Muhweta to commit suicide as no suicide note was left behind with explanations.
