SPYL snubs planned demonstration

Swapo Party Youth League have distanced themselves from a purportedly planned march that will take place in the Kavango East and West regions.

In a statement released today SPYL said, “The SWAPO Party Youth League leadership and its rank and file is distancing itself from this planned demonstration and would like to urge all SPYL members and sympathizes to stay away from this demonstration.

The added that, “Our aim as the Youth wing of the SWAPO Party is to be vigilant and consistently combat all forms and tendencies of tribalism and regionalism amongst many regressive tendencies. We are very grateful to our fore fathers and mothers who brought freedom to this Nation under the banner of SWAPO Party. Namibians are peace loving people and would want to enjoy that Peace and we want to urged all Namibians to unite and supporting the Government in strengthening the peace we know since our Independence.”

The Youth league also declared faith in President Hage Geingob’s leadership saying, “H.E. Dr. Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia ever since his term has assured the nation that nobody will be excluded in the Namibian House. It is important to urged all Namibians to see themselves as part of the Namibian House and to help the Government fight poverty.

They added that, “We further, advice those spearheading the strike not to resort to means of violence and to call off the demonstration and rather engage the authorities peacefully. We would also like to advise all those taking part in the demonstration not to disturb road users because it might instigate violence.”
