OTJIWARONGO, 15 DEC (NAMPA) – A 28-year-old man was on Tuesday morning found hanging dead from a tree in the Tsaraxa-Aibes informal settlement at Otjiwarongo.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Head of Operations, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb told Nampa in an interview on Tuesday that the man has been identified as Jackson Hameva.
“His close relatives have already been informed of his death,” Khairabeb said.
It is alleged that Hameva and his girlfriend quarreled over alcohol, and the heated argument saw the girlfriend leave their house and walk to her aunt’s house in the same area.
Hameva then allegedly hanged himself on a nearby tree.
Khairabeb said some community members allegedly tried to rescue Hameva by cutting the rope around his neck, but he had already died.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
