NCAUTE, 14 DEC (NAMPA) – Two Kavango East regional councillors narrowly escaped death when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle at Ncaute village Sunday afternoon.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Deputy Commissioner, Uaakisa Ndjavera of the Kavango West told Nampa on Monday that the two councillors were driving in the eastern direction when the accident happened.
The councillors are Mashare Constituency Councillor, Phillip Mavara and Petrus Kavhura of Ndonga Linena Constituency.
Ndjavera said the driver of the Toyota Hilux pick-up in which the councillors were traveling had to swerve to the right in avoidance of a collision when the car driving in front of them slowed down rapidly and unexpectedly.
The pick-up thus veered into the opposite lane and as such collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
Ndjavera said both vehicles involved in the collision were badly wrecked, however both drivers and passengers got away with slight injuries.
