Murder and suicides dominate weekend

WINDHOEK, 13 DEC (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at the weekend recorded four cases of murder and three incidents of suicide.
NamPol spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi told a media briefing on Sunday the remains of Mutmumwa Milton Matomola had been found.
Matomola was reported missing on 09 November 2015. He was a learner at the Lusese Combined School.
His body was found in the bushes at Ngoma in the Zambezi Region on Friday.
The deceased’s clothes found at the scene had bloodstains, which prompted police to open a case of murder.
Shikwambi said anyone with information can contact the nearest police station.
In a separate incident, an 18-year-old man identified as Frans So-Oabeb was allegedly stabbed in the neck by two men after an argument broke out between them in Katutura.
The incident occurred along Sigar Street at about 00h40 on Saturday.
The suspects, aged 20 and 21, were arrested and will appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
At Gibeon, the lifeless body a 31-year-old man was discovered with stab wounds in the chest by passers-by in the Lukas Stephanus location on Saturday at about 04h00.
The deceased was identified as Cecil Johannes Awaseb. His next of kin have been informed, while police at Gibeon are requesting anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
In another stabbing incident, Vetamuje Kahiiko, 20, died instantly when he was stabbed with a knife in the neck after an argument broke out between him and an 18-year-old suspect.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning at about 02h00 in the Otjimbingwe area in the Erongo Region.
Meanwhile, a 72-year-old pensioner committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at the Mukuvi village, Ngoma in the Kavango East Region at about 20h00 on Friday.
The motive behind the suicide has not yet been established as no note was left behind.
Another suicide case was reported in the Omaheke Region, when an unidentified man was found hanging from a tree by two children who were looking for berries.
The incident occurred in the Du Plessis area at an unknown time on Friday.
No suicide note was left behind and police investigations into to matter continue.
And in another suicide incident, Mufana Muyangwa, 32, was found hanging from an electrical cord in his room at Mumbone village in the Zambezi Region on Friday.
The circumstances surrounding the suicide have not yet been established, nor the time the incident took place.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
Finally, two adults and a two-year-old child died after they were struck by lightning at the Lusu and Isuswa villages on Friday at about 16h00.
The victims were identified as Ivy Nanvula Lukezo, 23; Kapinda Sinvula, 2; and Robert Ndeya, 31, who is a Zambian national.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
