Johannesburg: American rapper Kendrick Lamar nearly broke Michael Jackson's Grammy Award nomination record of 12 in 1984 when he bagged 11 Grammy nominations for the 2016 awards.
It is not a surprise that through these nominations Kendrick's album “To Pimp a butterfly” has been nominated for album of the year along side Canadian singer The Weekend's "Beauty Behind the Madness" and American pop singer Taylor Swift's "1989".
The spotlight will be on the category of Best Rap Album with names like J-cole, Dr Dre, Nicky Minaj, Drake and Kendrick Lamar himself.
It will be interesting to see who takes this one considering the amount of hype which all albums have received from their respective audience.
