Otjiwarongo businessman robbed at gunpoint

OTJIWARONGO, 08 DEC (NAMPA) – The owner of Jad Oon Cell and Electronics at Otjiwarongo was on Monday robbed at gunpoint of N.dollars 20 000 and a number of cellphones at his shop.
The 42-year-old Muhammad Asif Khan opened a case of armed robbery at the Otjiwarongo Police Station under CR no. 39/12/2015.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations’ Officer, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Tuesday two armed men entered Khan’s shop at 08h30 pretending to be customers.
Once they were inside the shop, they closed the doors and gun-pointed Khan and his shop assistants.
The workers were ordered to lie down on the floor and their arms and legs were tied up.
Khan was also tied up and the men demanded that he give them all the money in the shop.
Mbeha said the men got away with N.dollars 20 000 and 24 new cellphones valued at N.dollars 48 200.
The armed robbers then fled the shop and left Khan and his employees unharmed.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
