Former NBC journalist chairs Omusati RC

OUTAPI, 04 DEC (NAMPA) – A former Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) journalist, Modestus Amutse was on Friday sworn in as the new chairperson of the Omusati Regional Council (RC).
Amutse is currently the Oshikuku councillor and succeeds former chairperson Simon Tataati Shileka, who retired after the recent 2015 RC election.
Other members of the Omusati RC management committee are Leonard Shikulo of the Okahao Constituency; Willem Iiyambo of the Ogongo Constituency; and former mayor of Ruacana Andreas Shintama, who is now Ruacana Constituency councillor.
Other members of the Omusati RC are Junias Amunkete (Tsandi Constituency); Lauretius Iipinge (Okalongo); Johannes Iiyambo (Otamanzi); Johannes Elisa (Etayi); Werner Kalipi (Anamulenge); Titus Kanyele (Onesi); Gerhard Shiimi (Elim); and Fillemon Shikwambi (Outapi).
The Omusati RC would be represented in the National Council in Windhoek by Kalipi, Shiimi and Kanyele.
Members of the Omusati RC are all male and are from the ruling Swapo party. Kalipi, Shintama, Iipinge, Amunkete, Shikwambi and Shikulo are new members in the Omusati RC.
The magistrate for the Omusati Region, Walter Mikiti presided over the swearing-in ceremony held at the regional council offices.
