SWAKOPMUND, 26 AUG (NAMPA) - The annual Grade 10 spring school which assists learners in the Erongo Region in preparing for the end-of-year examinations was officially opened here on Monday.
A total of 400 learners from four different high schools at the tourist town are attending the week-long spring school, which is being hosted by Coastal High School.
During the spring school, teachers from the region help to build up learners’ confidence in order to ensure that a 100 per cent pass rate is obtained during their Junior Secondary Certificate (JSC) examinations.
Learners attending the spring school will receive tutoring in eight subjects including English, physical science, life science, mathematics, geography, history, accounting and entrepreneurship.
Senior education officer in the Ministry of Education, Natalia Guriras said during the official opening the spring school is “pushing the region to a higher level of success”.
“The spring school will be addressing the need to give individual attention to learners in solving problems and enhancing their knowledge in the various subjects, thus improving their examination results,” she noted.
Guriras added that the spring school also offers learners the opportunity to sharpen their skills, raise questions, interact with fellow learners and seek better studying methods.
Namsov Fishing Enterprises sponsored the event with an amount of N.dollars 350 000.
The Grade 10 spring school, a Ministry of Education initiative, follows the recent Grade 12 Erongo spring school which ended on 23 August. It was held at the Swakopmund Secondary School.
