Polling stations opened as early as 7am and voting is expected to continue until 2100hrs today. Dr Paul John Isacks the ECN boss confirmed that most of the polling stations opened without hiccups.

He also told state broadcaster that polling stations will not close if all people inside the polling stations have not voted. Counting of ballots will be done promptly after election closes and results correlation with every political party and the polling station will commence.

Results will be displayed outside the polling station then sent to constituency correlation centre before eventually being sent to the main results centre at ECN head office in Windhoek.

Results will be announced as they trickle in with the bulk of the results expected on Saturday. PJ Isacks gave confirmation to the state broadcaster NBC that elections are expected to proceed smoothly.


Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa Amadhila will add her balllot at Olympia polling station near the MTC Head Office between 9 and 9:30.
