Geingob casts vote

WINDHOEK, 27 NOV (NAMPA) – President Hage Geingob cast his vote in the Regional Council and Local Authority Elections at the Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) building in Olympia for the Windhoek East Constituency at 07h00 on Friday.
Geingob was the first registered voter to vote at this polling station followed by his wife, First Lady Monica Geingos; Swapo Secretary-General Nangolo Mbumba; Khomas Governor Laura Veenelapi McLeod-Katjirua; and Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service Agnes Tjongarero.
Speaking to the media after casting his ballot, Geingob said this is an important election that would bring the government closer to the electorate.
“I feel great to be the first to vote and I am urging all registered voters to cast their votes at their respective constituencies,” he said.
The candidates for Regional Council Election in this constituency are Raymond Reginald Diergaardt (DTA of Namibia); Ruusa Joyce Namuhuja (Swapo); and Jens Schneider (Rally for Democracy and Progress).
In the Windhoek Local Authority race the candidates are from the All People’s Party (APP); Christian Democratic Voice Party (CDV); DTA of Namibia; National Unity Democratic Organisation of Namibia; Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP); Republican Party of Namibia; Swanu party of Namibia; Swapo; United Democratic Front of Namibia and Workers Revolutionary Party (WRP).
About 12 887 registered voters in Windhoek East Constituency are expected to cast their votes in 17 fixed polling stations and two mobile stations.
The polling stations are open at 07h00 and closes at 21h00.
